Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: In some ways, What Just Happened feels like an attempt to, if not make amends for moviemaking myopia, at least show how easily the contagion takes hold. – Lisa Kennedy, Denver Post, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: It's a pungent film about Hollywood power and a useful manual for young producers on how to stay upright in Hollywood or at least, how to lose your soul with grace. – Paul Byrnes, Sydney Morning Herald, Jun 24, 2010

Fresh: It's not Bowfinger but it's well worth the ticket. – Julie Rigg, MovieTime, ABC Radio National, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: What Just Happened, despite an air of crisis, feels sluggish and plodding. – Philippa Hawker, The Age (Australia), Jun 24, 2010

Wouldn't watch it again

It was boring and frankly, I never would have watched it if I knew the main conflicts were Bruce Willis shaving his beard and a dog getting shot Kristen Stewart looked lovely though.

Entertaining

"What Just Happened" is NOT high art. In fact, beyond Robert De Niro's strong performance as a harried producer, there's not much here which is great. It won't blow you away, you won't remember it forever. However, it is very entertaining -- a fast pace, lots of sly humor (mostly jabs at the film industry, from egotistical "auteurs" to demanding A-list stars) -- and parts of it will enthrall people interested in Hollywood. Of course, those people would be better served by Robert Altman's "The Player" -- a better film covering similar ground. Still, for what this is, a light showbiz send-up, it's worth watching.

Great Movie

I thought it was a great movie, completely original, it's very unique and the cast is full of A list actors who do an amazing job throughout the movie... it's a movie that gives great insight to the hollywood business and i truly enjoyed the movie from start to finish!
