Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Intimate, unnerving and entirely addictive.
Fresh: What Maisie Knew gives the audience a ground-eye view of its mesmerizing title character, a plucky, charismatic New Yorker who navigates downtown bars and building lobbies with the street savvy of a pro.
Fresh: On the surface, this indie does sound like standard-issue material, but its dynamics are far more complex than its simple exterior.
Fresh: The film is touching, filled with taste and care, but not enough to avoid being coy and sentimental.
Every couple contemplating divorce must watch this!
I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. Working in the social services field, I see cases like this, in one form or another, all the time. Parents often don't think that children are picking up what is happening around them, but, even if they can't or simply don't vocalize it, they do. While this movie is an extreme version of what plays out across our country, the message should not be over looked. This is a must watch! If you have kids, you have to watch this!!
beauty and sadness and leaves you wanting more...
The acting is stellar, and the cinematography and missing parts of information put the viewer in the child's place, seeing her world through her eyes, feeling the anxiousness, love, and sadness she does. This is for those who embrace the messiness of life along with the good, the kind of movie you don't want to leave when it ends.
A deeper version of Kramer Vs Kramer
This is a good story. I know most of these people who rate this forgot about a movie done artfully well, Kramer VS. Kramer which just ripped your heart out. This movie has more of a modern day twist on it, going deeper where Kramer VS. Kramer dropped us off at. I did think the movie was well acted. This child has star quality about her. She will totally melt your heart. A good film to own. You wont be sorry you bought this one. Oh, and dont forget the tissues... buy the good kind with Aloe as your gonna cry buckets. A good one to watch with the girlfriends or your grown daughters. This is a chick flick. However, this is not a man "hater" kind of movie. iF you need a good sorrowful cry....this movie will deliver, not just the first time you watch it but everytime you watch it!
