About the Movie
Rob Reiner's romantic comedy documents a very unusual couple. There's never been a friendship quite like Harry and Sally's. From faking an orgasm at the corner deli, to debating the odds of having great sex with a guy named "Sheldon", there's nothing Harry and Sally don't do together. Well, almost nothing…. At the start, they are two recent college graduates who meet while sharing a ride together from Chicago to New York. They decide that it is impossible for men and women to be "just friends," and when they reach The Big Apple, they go their separate ways. Several years later they happen to be seated next to each other on an airplane, and Harry tells Sally about his recent marriage…and several years later, in another random meeting, he relays his divorce…when they become close friends…so close that their respective best friends fall in love. At a climactic New Years Eve party, they finally must confront and embrace their true feelings for each other.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: What Harry and Sally do -- the true focus of this often funny but amazingly hollow film -- is saunter through the romanticized lives of intelligent, successful, neurotic New Yorkers.
Fresh: A ravishing, romantic lark brimming over with style, intelligence and flashing wit.
Fresh: ike Harry and Sally, the movie is hardworking, spot on; it winepresses its conversation into epigrams.
Fresh: The summer's uncorseted, unqualified delight.
Great Romantic Comedy!
I have always hated 'Romantic Comedies' or 'Chick Flicks'. So I was very hesitant to rent 'When Harry Met Sally' much loved (and debatably one of the most well regarded chick flicks). But the film had me laughing within the first 15 min. The lovely, happy, organized Sally (Meg Ryan) brings a great view of how many women act and feel regarding sex and love. The 'death loving', cynical, (suprisingly handsome) Harry (Billy Crystal) is hilarious and while slightly annoying you end up cheering for him in the end. This is a hilarious film that brings life to a normally bland genre.
This is one of the greatest dialog movies ever made! Or that is what my mother used to say when I would watch it with her almost every week when I was a kid. Personally I don't like romance movies all that much, but this is one that both me, my sci-fi geek brother and my mother can watch over and over again (and quote almost every line) You won't find a better, well scripted (and ad-libbed in some parts...) romance movie ever, that even people who don't like romance movies will enjoy time and time again.
The Cornerstone RomCom of the Last 20 years
This is the romantic comedy every one since has been aspiring to match, none of them with any success. Where they're treacly, this is tart; where they have gimmicks, this one has Pepper; where they refer to this, this refers to Casablanca. And where they have their great statement of love, this goes "I hate you." This is the only romcom you will ever need, crammed with all the bickering old friends Rob Reiner and Nora Ephron could come up with, and it has all the best lines you've always heard and never knew where they came from. You'll never treasure friends more, or ever listen to "Auld Lang Syne" the same way, again. Or "Surrey With a Fringe on Top" for that matter. Just remember, don't **** with Mister Zero when you're having lunch at Katz's.
