Plot Summary

Jonathan Taylor Thomas (TV's "Home Improvement," "Man of the House"), Scott Bairstow ("The Postman," TV's "Party of Five") and Devon Sawa ("Slackers," "Final Destination") star in the true story of the Stouffer brothers, three boys who leave their rural Arkansas hometown in the summer of 1967 with a used 16mm camera to film endangered wildlife. Encounters with rampaging moose, deadly crocodiles and a den of wild grizzly bears are only some of the hair-raising adventures the three boys experience on their perilous and heartwarming journey to become America's premier naturalist filmmakers. Co-starring Tony-nominee Jamey Sheridan (TV's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "Life as a House") and Frances Fisher ("True Crime," "Unforgiven"). Directed by William Dear ("Angels in the Outfield," "Harry and the Hendersons"). Look for an uncredited cameo by "Lethal Weapon" star Danny Glover!

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Wild America feels like something the Walt Disney company produced for junior-high-classroom consumption 30 years ago. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, Jul 18, 2014

Rotten: Wild America often feels like a MMMBop-ish Hanson brothers music video redone for the Discovery Channel. – Susan Wloszczyna, USA Today, Jun 24, 2010

Rotten: The movie, ostensibly a chronicle of nature, has no patience at all for the processes of nature: It's cut like a music video, with stuff just happening really fast. – Stephen Hunter, Washington Post, Jul 18, 2014

Rotten: Supposedly, Wild America is a family film, but I can't figure out which members of the family it's intended for. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Jul 18, 2014

Great movie

I first saw this movie when i was like 12 yrs old and i loved it. I wished i had siblings i could go on adventures with. Its a really good movie to watch during like the summer. Plus the brothers are really cute lol ;)

No words

This was probably the first real movie I had ever seen in my life. So I was about two. This and one other being the only movies we had every summer at the cabin means it's so much more than a movie to me. It's a memory.

A good o'l adventure movie!!!

This movie is my childhood, best movie ever. Some redneck kids from Arkansas go on some crazy adventures and make films about wild animals. Ignore the dumb reviews complaining that the movie is lame. Buncha yuppies who can't appreciate a good movie.
