Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Not since June Carter Cash in Walk the Line has Witherspoon been so present to a character. Her Cheryl is funny and messy, wounded but not without survival instincts. – Lisa Kennedy, Denver Post, Dec 12, 2014

Fresh: What do you do when your heroine is tough but emotionally hurt, bright but glib, grown but immature? Make a film about her that is both painful and uplifting. – Colin Covert, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Dec 18, 2014

Fresh: It captures an emotional memoir without making it feel like a didactic tale of triumph over adversity. – David Sims, The Atlantic, Oct 14, 2015

Fresh: Jean-Marc Vallee follows up The Dallas Buyer's Club with Wild, another strong, urgent, raw piece of filmmaking that offers an Oscar-nominated turn for its lead actor, in this case Reese Witherspoon. – CJ Johnson, ABC Radio (Australia), Feb 2, 2015

Don't even get me started.

At one point of this boring and extremely long film, I stopped caring about the problems of Cheryl. I just developed a lack of compassion for her after I saw why she went on the hike. The way she attempted to cope with the death of her mother with sex and cocaine was stupidity in its purest form. As for Laura Dern, who played Cheryl's mother, she was the lone bright spot throughout the movie for me.

Great film, but….

……a bit too heavy on the use of flashbacks and a horrible soundtrack. But worth a watch all the same.

The most boring movie I ever seen

I don't understand people who liked this movie,, was so boring.
