About the Movie
Gene Wilder ("Blazing Saddles," "Young Frankenstein") stars in this magical, musical fantasy for the young, and the young at heart. The mysterious candy maker extraordinaire Willy Wonka hides a Golden Ticket inside five of his famous candy bars. The kids who find them are invited on a grand tour of the wondrous, wacky Wonka factory, and a chance for an even grander prize -- if they can resist temptation. The delightful musical score includes the hit song "The Candyman." From Roald Dahl's classic novel, produced by David L. Wolper ("Roots," "The Thorn Birds") and nominated for an Academy Award.

Fresh: Great fun, with Wilder for once giving an impeccably controlled performance as the factory's bizarre owner.
I like it but it can get ANNOYING!!!!!
RIP Gene Wilder
A wonderful movie - among many delightful Wilder films - that I would watch and enjoy with my kids. As they got older we would rewatch the movie and they would find new layers of humor to enjoy. He will be missed.
How NOT to raise your kids: THE MOVIE!
Absolutely a classic! Roald Dahl, author of the original book, hated for the fact that it strayed too far from the original and that it put too much focus on Willy Wonka instead of the main character, Charlie. However, it is a great movie nonetheless. The insanity of Wonka and his factory is present, especially during the boat ride, and the character of Wonka himself has the mind of a James Bond villian, though with no evil intentions (maybe). The humour was very witty, especially with the words of Wonka. Some of my favorites are:
"Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker."
"Where is fancy bred? In the heart or in the head?"
"Help. Police. Murder."
"By gum it's gum!"
"What is this some type of funhouse?"
"Why? Having fun?"
Also, we must mention that the man who played Wonka, Gene Wilder, has recently passed away.
