Fresh: [Taylor] Sheridan paints a searing picture of life on society's margins - people who live with 'silence and snow' and not much else.
Fresh: For all the character studies and moments of reflection and lament, Wind River never loses its identity as a gritty thriller.
Fresh: Sheridan has professed admiration for Clint Eastwood's towering anti-Western "Unforgiven" and dark-night-of-the-soul dramas from Michael Mann. Both are reference points for his adept mix of masculine posturing and wounded soul-searching.
Fresh: Bundle up: "Wind River" will blow you away.
An Incredible Directorial Debut!
From one of the best writers working right now (writer of Sicario and Hell or High Water) Taylor Sheridan brings you into a dark story (inspired by true events) that has you feeling what every character in the film is feeling. It by far exceeded my expectations. Taylor Sheridan directed his first movie better than any first time director has. The writing was awe-inspiring. Every line had me in amazement. The acting was just incredible. Jeremy Renner deserves to be nominated and so does Elizabeth Olsen for Best Supporting Actress. You could tell she was acting her heart out. She got so emotionally involved with the story. The ending was perfect. It showed the scars that having to bury your child leaves. How you will never be the same and only feel lonely. Taylor Sheridan definitely showed how emotional this was and how much he cared. It had the audience feeling for every character and feeling as if we knew how they felt when yet (some of us) don't. I don't cry at movies often but I did at the end of Wind River. The ending was the best scene in the whole movie because of what it meant. Wind River is my new favorite film of this year. Thank god for Taylor Sheridan!
Saw this movie in theaters and loved it so much. Ending is very powerful!
This film was so powerful! Taylor Sheridan is on his way to becoming an amazing director up there with the best of them.
I loved his other films : Sicario and Hell or High Water. The latter being one of my favorite movies ever but now with Wind River he has offered us another outstanding film, which is even better than He'll or High Water ( if that can be possible)
He is a great storyteller who is able to take us into another world ( life as Native Americans on the reservation and showing us the indignities and cruel realities of that life).
I felt pain, sadness, along with wonder at the natural beauty of their world. I cried when the movie ended but really appreciated the last scene. A beautiful way to end a heartbreaking , powerful story.
I can't wait to see what he will do next. Thanks Taylor for taking us to another place and presenting it in such a skillful, touching way!
