From the land Down Under which brought us Crocodile Dundee and Mad Max comes Yahoo Serious, an off-beat, off-center and off-the-wall cult hero who is also the writer, producer, director and star of this unorthodox version of the early life of Albert Einstein. This Tasmanian-born, wild-haired office clerk doesn't rest at discovering the Theory of Relativity, he takes another giant leap in human thought when he invents the traditional theory of rock 'n roll by transforming his classical viola into an electric guitar. This film registered one of the biggest box office opening weekends in Australian film history. The Hollywood Reporter says, "Serious sends his audience out on a wave of rock 'n roll fun."

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Serious, a long-haired gangly clown, exhibits a brash and confident sense of humor, endearing personality, and a fondness for sight gags.
Rotten: A dumber-than-a-bowling-ball blockbuster from Down Under.
Rotten: Young Einstein is a one-joke movie, and I didn't laugh much the first time.
Rotten: The movie runs out of -- excuse me again -- energy in the late going, and the invention of the humor is uneven. But Serious plays the title role with charm and lightness. His wild red hair makes Don King's look like a crewcut.
This movie was very funny at the time it came out!
Taking into account the topical nature of the film, it may not play today like it did back 20+ years ago. For those nostalgic folks that wish to recapture some of their lost youth the film brings back great memories. The storyline is ridiculous, but the soundtrack is fantastic. The music plays along and is actually a major player in the story. If you are looking for a little time away, rent this movie. If you are looking to add a classic to your library, you might want to just rent this movie.
