About the Movie
In the far future, a savage trained only to kill finds a way into the community of bored immortals that alone preserves humanity's achievements.
Zardoz is not campy, just weird.
Sean Connery in a loincloth with a pony tail in a dystopian future. The movie's name is from wiZARDofOZ a book in a neglected library. The flying stone head is weird. It's worth watching because its Connery.
don't do it. really. don't.
I rented this on video once and it broke my vcr. so bad it's funny at first, then it becomes embarrassing and finally just painful.
Zardoz: Hideous when it first came out, and hasn't improved with time.
This film was heavily promoted when it first came out, and I was suckered into seeing it. It was awful; amateurish; pointless; totally without redeeming value; not even campy. For some reason, I succumbed to renewed promotion, deceiving myself into believing it would be better the second time, 35 years later. It wasn't. If anything, the overall improvement in films in the last few decades made Zardoz even more hideous. I'm embarrassed to admit I actually saw it twice. I wish I could rate it with less than one star. Only Egah, Written in Blood (and maybe, Eraserhead) is worse.
