AFI Makes A Blizzard

Of course you’re thinking “How can AFI do better than their first single ‘Miss Murder’?” Well they did. In their new music video for their second single ‘Love Like Winter’, AFI tells the story of lead singer, Davey, and his mysteriously cold encounters with a woman who doesn’t show her face in the winter wilderness. When I previewed all of AFI’s songs on iTunes from their new album “DECEMBERUNDERGROUND”, my favorites were ‘Miss Murder’, ‘Prelude 12/21’, and ‘Love Like Winter’. I knew this was going to be their next single because ‘Prelude 12/21’ was already in the beginning of ‘Miss Murder’ and it was too short to be a single. ‘Love Like Winter’ has an electrifying chorus and the song shows how deep in their music AFI can be. The video starts off with Davey walking up to meet the rest of the band in the middle of a forest in winter. As the guitar kicks in everyone is somewhere distant in the forest playing their instruments and Davey is singing as he walks throughout the forest. As the chorus comes crashing in, you see some of the band members struggling to survive the dangerous blizzard in the forest. During the second verse, Davey meets a mysterious young woman who doesn’t show her face to him. When the second chorus comes, the woman turns around and slowly walks away. But Davey follows her until the end of the song’s bridge. Just before the last chorus, the woman turns around and shows her face to Davey. Davey falls through the ice and can’t get back to the surface. But the woman is underwater with him somehow and Davey turns around and notices. They grab on to each other and as the song ends they both sink to the bottom of the bottomless lake.

how long.....

i have been waiting for this video forever!! o and a little sneak peek for all the AFI fans the missing frame will be out in january 2007!!

Essential to an AFI Fan!

I have awaited this music video's release with much anticipation, having been a fanatic AFI fan. For all the hype that went up about Love Like Winter, I was expecting something that would completely blow my mind. However, when this came out I felt a bit of disappointment, somehow it leaves you with the feeling that it was too short. Whether or not that is true, that's definately the impression it gave me. All in all, though, it is an excellent music video. It has a mystical aspect to it, and I love the makeup that went into it. It weaves a short story, if you will, around the band and its members, and if you like AFI, this is a must have. I enjoyed it a lot and the only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was the impression of shortness it left me with, as I mentioned before. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS VIDEO...LOVE LIKE WINTER!!!!

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Although they didn't reach platinum status until 2003, hardcore punk revivalists AFI originally formed in 1991, when the band's four founding members — vocalist Davey Havok, guitarist Markus Stopholese, bassist Vic Chalker, and drummer Adam Carson — were attending high school in Ukiah, California. Chalker was replaced by Geoff Kresge after eight months, and the band played several local gigs and released a split 7", Dork, with fellow Ukiah natives Loose Change (a band that incidentally...
