I Just Don't Get It

How has this happened yet again? Another talentless rapper with degrading lyrics has somehow achieved a #1 hit. Actually, you could've fooled me by saying this song is a duplicate of Shawty by Plies. Both feature a catchy but morally shallow chorus by T-Pain, horrible lyrics which degrade women ruthlessly, but have somehow become a hit. I wonder if all of the people who have made this song into a number one hit even listen to the words at all. "She had them baggy sweatpants, Reeboks with the straps, I turned around and gave that big booty a smack". Beautiful, just beautiful. This is the pattern that is sadly developing for mainstream rap songs. Offensive lyrics, unoriginal music videos and song topics, redundant production that has been done thousands of times, but because it has a catchy hook, people are willing to overlook that. I can't even remember how many times the premise of this music video has been used. Please, before you buy this music video or the song, try to have some moral values.

Signed to the Atlantic-distributed Poe Boy that year, he recorded Mail on Sunday, which was released in March of 2008. "Low," featuring T-Pain, was the album's lead single;...
