Not "random".

The video is beautiful at face-value, with the Escher-esque distortions, but it is based on dream imagery and symbols. The whole video is distorted and surreal, with unexpected transitions - much like a dream. Carl Jung theorizes that there are two parts to our psyche (exploring the "other side"); our public face and our "shadow". Note the main character literally struggling/fighting against -his shadow-. The video is about psychological concepts and dream symbols - which is great in and of itself, and the visuals are just fantastic.

Right, not random

All right Rob Identity, you are right, this is not a random music video, i read what you had to say and and i see what you mean. It is a very artistic and artful music video that makes perfect sence when you look a little deeper below the surface. My hat is off to you Chilli Peppers, still my favorite!

I'm not much of a Red Hot Chili Peppers fan, but this is absolutely the best music video I've ever seen - the moody, evocative sound blends perfectly with the bleakly beautiful, german influenced dream imagery. Imaginative, psychological, mesmerizing visuals enhance the lyrics, vocals, and spare instrumentals perfectly. They got it just right - I can't get enough.

The roots of the band lay in a friendship forged by three school chums, Anthony Kiedis, Michael Balzary, and Hillel Slovak,...
