Can We Please Rate The Music?

The style of music known as 'Americana' has long had a fascination with the morbid and macabre. Listen to Townes Van Zandt's "Waitin' 'Round To Die" or "The Hole" or most anything by Greg Brown. For some folks, considering the certainty of death is a coping mechanism. Reviewers who are unwilling to look Death in the face should not have to, but they really shouldn't knock a song that does. Describing a murder does not suggest that murder is a good thing to do, much less "promote violence". There is no graphic violence portrayed here, and the lyrics aren't as gory as the evening news.
