Born in Morocco, French composer Armand Amar has written music for film, theatre, contemporary dance and television. His work fuses influences from North Africa, the Middle East and European classical music—combining the oud and frame drum as on "Nare Nare", or baroque singing and strings on “Cum Dederit”. In 2010 he won the César Award for his soundtrack to the film Le Concert, with its romantically moving and heartbreaking score for piano, orchestra and choir—carrying the listener through a dramatic journey with lush, warm arrangements and creating a hypnotic effect.
