Best of Rocksteady
Apple Music
Preferring the “one drop” to ska's boisterous offbeat, rocksteady's breezy rhythms took Jamaica by storm in the late ‘60s. By emphasizing the second and fourth beat, it also opened the door for a more ready fusion with American R&B and pop. Ken Boothe gives “Ain't No Sunshine” an urgency unlike the original, and Glen Adams rides atop a sweet groove when he says “I Want to Hold Your Hand.”
