Formed in 2006, Emeralds played a beguiling brand of electronic music, combining elements of Krautrock, synthpop, film scores, and minimalism. Incredibly prolific, Emeralds had released dozens of limited-edition cassettes and CD-Rs by the time they signed with Editions Mego in 2010, through which they released their breakthrough LP, Does It Look Like I'm Here?. Following their fifth album in 2012, founding guitarist Mark McGuire left to focus on his solo work, and the rest of the band split a year later.
