So many of the Foo Fighters' tunes serve as mirrors of Dave Grohl's upbeat perseverance, yet the alt-rocker also has his dark moments. When he sings “Tired of You,” a ballad pinned to a creeping, Nirvana-like melody—as well as the crunchy and jagged “Dear Rosemary”—he sounds imprisoned by love and suspicion, while on the screaming “No Way Back,” one of the band's most desperate rockers, he's sinking into full-blown existential crisis.
