Girls Against Boys Essentials

Few bands in the '90s had more guts than Girls Against Boys. Formed in Washington, D.C., and armed with a menacing, dual-bass rhythm section, the band's early albums split the difference between Sonic Youth's caustic noise rock and Fugazi's fluid grooves, and they soon had an international following. By '96's killer House of GvsB and '98's Freak*on*ica they'd gone deeper into noisy funk rhythms and electronic dance music. The group never formally split—they've toured and recorded only sporadically since '02, with members also joining bands like New Wet Kojak and Paramount Styles.
