Gomez has found endless ways to play with the sonic architecture of the early blues (slide guitar, banjos, vocal howls) in order to create post-millennial indie rock. "Little Pieces" and "Tijuana Lady" are built from American folk, but filtered through a British home-studio sensibility, while "Detroit Swing 66" and "Bring It On" are gleefully assembled from funky old musical building blocks.
