In the late '60s and early '70s, legendary jazz flautist Herbie Mann recorded a series of dynamic jazz-rock-funk albums for Atlantic Records. Combining his own groovy compositions with songs from Sam & Dave, The Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, Sonny & Cher, and others, he performed with flashy guitarists like Duane Allman, Larry Coryell, and Sonny Sharrock to give his new sound a real driving energy.
