I.R.S. Records: '80s Pop
Apple Music
The era-defining indie, I.R.S. Records, was launched in 1979 by Miles Copeland III, and quickly became host to some of the '80s' biggest power-pop and new wave acts, including The Go-Go's, R.E.M., The English Beat, The dB's, and The Alarm. Rebooted in 2013, the label continues today, but this list focuses on their early years, as they captured the sound of an emerging musical generation.
