Kiss Essentials

Famous for their painted faces, impressive stage pyrotechnics, and amazing marketing skills, Kiss are one of the most iconic rock bands of all time. Formed in New York in 1973, the group began with bassist Gene Simmons and singer Paul Stanley, who were inspired by both Alice Cooper and the New York Dolls. They were soon rounded out by guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss. Kiss rose in popularity due to extravagant stage shows that often involved fire-breathing, levitating drum kits, smoking guitars, and of course, Simmons' famous blood-spitting trick.
