NYO-USA and NYO2 Guest Artists

Each summer, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute brings together the brightest young players from across the country to form the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America and NYO2. This playlist celebrates the guest artists appearing with the NYO-USA this summer with selections from the repertoire they will perform with the orchestra. Christoph Eschenbach leads the orchestra’s US performances with pianist Emanuel Ax in a program of Mozart and Bruckner. Valery Gergiev leads the NYO-USA on its European tour, joined by pianist Denis Matsuev, performing music of Debussy, Rachmaninoff, and Prokofiev. Giancarlo Guerrero leads the newly launched NYO2, an intensive training program with a special focus on promoting diversity in the classical orchestral field. Participants in NYO2 have the opportunity to work closely with select members of The Philadelphia Orchestra; they recently played side-by-side in a performance of Respighi’s The Pines of Rome.
