EDITORS’ NOTES

Don't be fooled by the name—Patrick Watson is just the leader of this full-fledged quartet, renowned for their ambitious and symphonic indie pop. Born in California but raised in the suburbs of Montréal, Watson formed the band in the early ‘00s. A few short years later, they received one of Canada's highest musical honors, the Polaris Prize, for their eclectic sophomore album Close to Paradise. With emotive, grand songwriting reminiscent of contemporaries like Beirut and The Antlers, the band's music pairs well with gorgeous, warm summer nights and roaring fires—give it a try for yourself.
