Pete Seeger Essentials

Pete Seeger spent his entire career fighting for the rights of others, making him an agitator to some but a folk hero to many. The troubadour got his start in 1941 when he helped to form The Almanac Singers, a collective renowned for singing about various progressive causes. The '50s saw Seeger cofound The Weavers, who had several hits before being blacklisted for their left-leaning content. Seeger then struck out on his own, crafting songs later covered by everyone from The Byrds to Johnny Rivers, and continued protesting well into his 90s, cementing his status as a true American icon.
