Real stuff!

Ryan and the team at Treehouse do an amazing job at selecting guest speakers for the podcast series that really resonate with the listeners in one way or another. The questions Ryan and the team ask are pointed and genuine. You can really tell that they are after something deeper and are staying true to their motto of Educate Yourself.

Awesome new show!

I listen to quite a few podcasts, and I wasn't looking for a new one. However, when I found out Ryan Carson had a show, I had to check it out. I've heard interviews with him before, and the guests he has on are awesome.

If you're looking for serious inspiration from people changing the world, check out number 12 with Adam Braun, founder of Pencils of Promise and MissionU.

Ryan Carson has a destiny as the Carl Sagan of Computer Science

Few people are willing to question the marketing myths behind colleges as does Ryan Carson. Thanks for being on our side; we need an advocate for computer scientists as well as students in general. Colleges get away with specious financial exploitation with hardly any repercussions, all under the hopes that we as a country remain convinced that college are a social blessing no matter what the cost and we never learn about the risk-free courses available online in the form of OpenCourseWare, Open Educational Resources, MOOCs, and cheap online trade schools like Treehouse that partner with local public libraries to offer free subscriptions.

Ryan Carson is fortunately leveraging his social capital towards the monumental task of unprogramming kids of the brainwashing that "college is a necessity." We couldn't ask for a greater ally. My hope is that Ryan Carson can partner with PBS to create a public information campaign about the risks of college debt versus the obvious future where every job will require programming skills, which thanks to the technology revolution can be learned online for free. This podcast is a great example of what needs to be discussed, by whom, and for what ends. If Ryan Carson fulfills his destiny as the Carl Sagan of Computer Science, perhaps we can save students from student debt crisis sooner than later and move on from this depressing era of astronomic tuition costs for an otherwise obsolete good.
