11.22.63 Bonus Episode 7: Cracking the Conspiracy

11.22.63 Bonus Episode 7: Cracking the Conspiracy

Better listen to this show before the CIA takes it down and rubs us out, because this time around we're Cracking the Conspiracy!

We've been talking about doing this show since the beginning, and it has finally arrived.

On this episode of the podcast, Skip and Chris dive deep into Oliver Stone's crackpot classic JFK.

Join us as we attempt to wrangle this cinematic tour-de-force into submission, and trace the conspiracy from the streets of New Orleans right up the highest echelons of power. Kevin Costner leads a who's who of Hollywood A-Listers and veteran character actors in Stone's mile-a-minute conspiracy gumbo. But does the film have anything to offer aside from outlandish allegations delivered by talented thespians?

After JFK, we then dive into the NOVA episode Cold Case: JFK, which eschews the Hollywood storytelling and examines the forensic evidence surrounding the Kennedy assassination.

And just when you thought you were out, Skip yanks you back with the discovery and subsequent discussion of the Patricia Lambert book False Witness.

It's a scathing indictment of Jim Garrison, and the ruthless tactics he sank to to bring Clay Shaw to trial in the murder of John F. Kennedy.

You can also watch a documentary adaptation of False Witness below!

And, as always, there are detours, tangents, and feedback aplenty. So join us, as we blow the doors off the cover up! (Or, you know, don't.)

11.22.63 Bonus Episode 6: Time Loops

It’s like déjà vu all over again, as we traverse Time Loops!

This Bonus Episode of the 11.22.63 Podcast spirals beyond all temporal reason, as hosts Skipper Martin and Christopher DeFilippis plumb the time travel sub-genre that we love to experience over, and over, and over, and over, and over…

First up, the 1986 novel Replay, written by Ken Grimwood – which is about a man who dies in 1988 -- and wakes up as his younger self in 1963 -- and proceeds to cycle through that time period again and again. One of the 1963 segments even deals briefly with preventing the JFK assassination!

After that, we tackle the short story “12:01 P.M.” by Richard Lupoff, and the Academy Award-nominated short film it inspired -- which you can watch below! Again, it’s about a man who finds himself in a time loop, living the same hour over and over again. We also examine Lupoff’s follow-up stories “12:02 P.M.” and “12:03 P.M.” -- which expand the premise.

Then stick around as we discuss our personal favorite time loop stories. Yes, Groundhog Day is in there -- along with many of others!

And, as always, there are detours, tangents, and feedback aplenty. You’ll want to listen again, and again, and again, and again….

11.22.63 Bonus Episode $$$: Cash Grab

11.22.63 Bonus Episode $$$: Cash Grab

We interrupt our regularly scheduled podcast to bring you this nakedly self-serving appeal.

Welcome to Cash Grab, a bonus episode where we take a hiatus from talking about other shows, books and films that explore the idea of preventing the Kennedy assassination -- so we can shill the independent writing projects of your humble hosts, Skipper Martin and Christopher DeFilippis.

First up, we sell the hell out of Skipper’s graphic novel Bizarre New World. We're proud to present Skip's appearance on our Barren Space sister podcast Thinking Outside The Long Box, where he tells host Gabe LLanas about his inspiration for the comic book and its road to publication.

Next, we pile on the high-pressure tactics to peddle Chris’s time-travel horror book The Seeker: A Novella of T.R.U.T.H. Included is Chris's appearance on the radio program Destinies: The Voice of Science Fiction, where he talks about the story genesis and presents an audio dramatization of part of the book.

Along the way Skip and Chris have an honest discussion about what they liked -- and didn't -- about each other's work.

We wrap things up with our joint appearance on the Destinies radio show to promote the 11.22.63 Podcast.

And stick around for feedback and Skiptopher contest updates a-plenty.

So join us, as we embark on this deep, probing examination -- of your pocketbooks! A-B-C! Always be closing!

11.22.63 Bonus Episode 5: British Invasion

Fluttering the dovecotes from all the way across the pond, it’s a British Invasion!

On this fifth Bonus Episode of the 11.22.63 Podcast, hosts Skipper Martin and Christopher DeFilippis go all stiff upper lip, as they look at two uniquely British takes on time travelers getting involved in the JFK assassination.

First up is the the Doctor Who novel Who Killed Kennedy by David Bishop. Yes, we finally let the single most popular time traveler in the world in on the act. Get ready for a timey-wimey, wibbly-wobbly ride with the third doctor! Jon Pertwee fans rejoice.

Then hang on to your chicken vindaloo, because next we tackle the Red Dwarf episode “Tikka To Ride.” This cult-classic Sci-Fi Brit-com managed to sneak a Kennedy assassination story in somewhere between all the curry jokes, and we tell you all about it! But we don’t go it alone! We have secured a token Brit!

Joining us on this show is our good friend Edwin Thrower. Edwin hails from merry olde England, and has a deep knowledge of Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, and just about everything geek. He’s smart, funny and brings a broader perspective to the fun – namely, a British one. He also takes the piss out of Chris and Skip!

If that’s not enough we also have an interview with David Bishop, author of Who Killed Kennedy, and several other Doctor Who stories. David is also a screenwriter and editor, and shares stories about his personal and professional adventures with The Doctor.

So gobsmacked you might chunder, ’ey mate?

11.22.63 Bonus Episode 4: Enter The Twilight Zone

11.22.63 Bonus Episode 4: Enter The Twilight Zone

    We’re traveling in another dimension…

Join us -- if you dare -- as we Enter The Twilight Zone!

On the fourth Bonus Episode of the 11.22.63 Podcast, hosts Skipper Martin and Christopher DeFilippis journey beyond the boundaries of imagination to serve fans with two episodes of Rod Serling’s iconic Science Fiction television series.

First up is the original series episode “No Time Like the Past” -- which aired a mere seven months before the JFK assassination -- in which a time traveler attempts change history for the better. The episode features classic film star Dana Andrews.

Next, we profile the episode “Profile in Silver” from the 1980s Twilight Zone reboot, in which a time traveler -- posing as a teacher -- actually prevents the Kennedy assassination. Shades of Jake Epping?

Then stick around for two interviews!

First we speak with Marc Scott Zicree – who wrote for the 1985 Twilight Zone TV series. He’s also author of The Twilight Zone Companion, a history and detailed episode guide of Rod Serling’s legendary series.

We follow that up with a chat with legendary actor Jerry Hardin. Among his 100+ acting credits are turns on genre favorites The X Files and Star Trek: The Next Generation. Hardin also appears as LBJ in “Profile in Silver.” 11.22.63 Host Skipper Martin joined Jerry in his home for the interview.

We also bring you an 11.22.63 conspiracy theory of our very own! Could The Twilight Zone have influenced the actions of a certain Mr. Lee Harvey Oswald? Skipper Martin brings you some mind-blowing speculation. Move over, Oliver Stone!

Skip and Chris also wax about their personal experiences with The Twilight Zone, recounting how they discovered the series and their favorite episodes.

Plus the usual rants, tangents, disagreements, radio sightings and listener feedback you’ve come to know and love. Enjoy our dimensions of sound and mind!

Fun... Especially the radio search

While the mini-series story lacked the punch and scope of the book, I did like the casting of the actor that played Lee Harvey.
The podcast is great! The melding of the book and show is fun to listen to. I really enjoy the "Radio" segment (AM and Old Time Radio shows are so much better than TV- you can exercise, bike, run and work with the radio- with TV - you sit).
I read the book about 4 years ago so without the podcasts I would have struggled to figure out why I was confused or frustrated (I quit Under the Dome TV show without finishing one episode).
I have 3 episodes to go of HULUs 10.22.63. I love the interviews (fav was the set decorator- she was so open and loved her job so much it caused me to yearn for a similar job.

Thanks for the info and I hope you continue with another project- while I wait, I will seek out Quantum Leap- I was born on day JFK was elected, love time travel stories but, have never watched Quantum Leap.
