This podcast, the latest of Rabbi Herzfeld’s forays into blending orthodoxy and modernity, is the most incredible way to begin my day. It’s accessible to those who’ve never learned a page of gemara, yet thought-provoking for those who learn every day. I listen to a number of podcasts of different types- comedy, news, policy- but had never found a Torah or Judaism-focused podcast that worked for me. Having a daily dose of daf has helped me remember to say brachot, wash my hands in the morning, and stay focused on Torah in general.
Champion of accessibility
What an incredible service... Once again Rabbi Shmuel demonstrates his ability to make Torah and serving Hashem fun and accessible... This podcast makes Torah learning so easy... To be able to incorporate Torah learning into my daily life by just pushing a button and listening for 5-6 minutes is so easy. And as usual the Rabbi's energy and enthusiasm bursting makes this a double great way to prepare for the day on my morning commute. Thanks again!!
Understandable and Profound
Rabbi Shmuel Herzfeld has done a great thing by recording these podcasts that are at one time understandable — without needing a working proficiency in Yeshivish — and at the same time profound. Rabbi Herzfeld does not try to go through the entire text of the daily Talmud page; rather, he focuses on an important spiritual message from the material. This is an excellent way to step a foot into the sea of the Talmud.
