Where is Kevin Smith?

When Kevin Smith launched the Smodcast Radio Network back in May of 2011, I was skeptical as to whether or not he could handle doing four hours of internet radio a day, five days a week. By September, Kevin was absent so much that they condensed both his shows into one. He was only on about a third of the time. When the new year started, he promised a schedule that he would be on at least 3 days a week. He has literally been absent for the entire month of January. I listened to his interview/confrontation on Adam Carolla's Podcast this week. During the show Kevin mentioned that one of the reasons he had issues with Adam was because of an episode of Hollywood Babylon that Adam filled in for him. Adam made a few statements that angered many of his listeners and several of them unsubscribed. He took this very serious because of his ties to the gay community. I applaud that. But on many of his shows he recieved tweets about how he was running both Plus One Per Dium and Jay and Silent Bob get jobs. He was frequintly absent from both shows and it was upsetting listeners. His response was always "Hey Man, we're giving this show away for free so appreciate what you're getting. I'm spinning a lot of plates". Say what you will about Adam Carolla, but he spins a lot of plates too and still manages to post a new episode every day, even if he has to bank a few while he's on the road. Further more, he always thanks his audience for their continued support of his sponsors. Take a page from Adam's book, Kevin; Appreciate your audience. They'll appreciate you back by supporting your sponsors.

Once was great.....

but now it just a bunch a unlistenable shows. The new format is not entertaining & without Kevin & Jen it is flat out horrible. Just stop

It WAS Good Once

This was once a good podcast. The conversations between Kevin and his wife were often both interesting and hilarious. Sadly this no longer seems to be a top priority, which is okay because this isn't his day job. He's still on the road a bunch and he's got his last movie to film. With that in mind he should've launched the SIR network when those things were said and done, that way he'd have more time to commit to this. Instead, both this podcast and the idea of the network have both seemed to dwindle.

Instead this podcast has become the Mike & Ming and the Dan & Marty show, and no offense to those guys, but they're just not as entertaining to listen to. The only reason I'm still subsribed is on the off chance that Kevin ever does a show again. We're almost a month into the new schedule and they haven't even come close to sticking to it.

Now with all of this in mind this is still absolutely free, and Smith does still provide great free entertainment on several other podcasts. But as for this podcast and the radio idea as a whole, I'm just about ready to give up on it.
