A show about writing, reading, and getting (some) things done. Jessica Lahey writes the Parent-Teacher Conference column for the New York Times' Well Family and is the author of "The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Children Can Succeed." KJ Dell'Antonia is a columnist and contributing editor for the New York Times' Well Family. In their podcast, they talk about writing short form, long form and book length, give tips for pitching editors and agents and constantly revise how they tackle the ongoing challenge of keeping your butt in the chair for long enough to get the work done.

Solid, professional and entertaining

I discovered this podcast through a referral by Gretchen Rubin. I am both a published writer and an unproductive writer (lots of projects dying on the vine), and I wanted to surround myself with the voices of people who do writing all the time (the theory of "social contagion"). I have now worked through about half of their 134 podcasts in just a few weeks, which I think is testimony to how useful I find them. I really enjoy Jess and KJ's rapport and I get super excited whenever Sarina Bowen shows up for a guest gig! This podcast is a gift to all writers and wannabe writers, and I appreciate it.

Top flight advice in real time from two pros

I’ve listened to a bunch of creative podcasts by influencers and while they were helpful, none of them was quite right to my experience of being in the biz of freelance writing. When I found this podcast, it was the stuff of my dreams! Smart, funny articulate hosts with gobs of street cred, dishing out intel one episode after another. I’ve come late to the party and I am sooo enjoying the huge volume of cupcakes I’m still eating (catching up on all episodes using a favorite treat of Jess and KJ as analogy). Thank you both, Jess and KJ. You are generous with your time, your experience and your hearts.

Helpful and fun podcast!!

In the past month, I have become a huge fan of this podcast. No matter what you are writing or how experienced or inexperienced you are, Jess and K.J. have some nuggets of wisdom to share with you. They cover every aspect of being a writer. They bring in awesome guests and conduct interviews with writers as they dive deep in specific areas like publishing, promotion, writing fiction, non fiction, and developing daily writing habits. They also keep it light and fun. I love listening to their banter! I highly recommend this podcast to all writers, anyone interested in writing, and people who like to read, as it will give you new insights on how the words make it on the page. Five stars and bravo, Jess and K.J.!!
