In 2011, Cavin Balaster fell two stories and landed in a 12-day coma with less than a 10% chance of recovery. A year later, after painstakingly regaining the ability to walk, talk, eat, breathe, swallow and think clearly, he began a blog documenting the details of his intense recovery called "Adventures in Brain Injury." Now, Cavin's bringing his blog and information, including interviews with practitioners and other survivors, to the podcast format.

A Beautiful Creation

As one listens to this podcase, Cavin's authenticity, knowledge, and light shine through brightly. In his viewpoints, I see a lifework that is building beautiful bridges between compassion, healthcare, and healing with food...pulling together the best of all three to bring joy back into lives once thought of as over. Keep shining Cavin!!

So grateful for this podcast!

A year ago I was hit from behind in my car by a distracted driver. I slammed the back of my head and sustained a concussion. This past year has been an emotional rollercoaster for me and my family. I had to give up my massage practice and I am still not able to do the things that made me who I was before. Acceptance has been my biggest hurdle.
The care I received at the beginning was less than compassionate or knowledgeable. I was told, “it’s only a concussion, you’ll be fine” and it left me feeling like I was faking my symptoms. I don’t blame them, it was just that there was no understanding of what PCS is. I had to teach myself.
I began doing my own research via your podcast and found a great care team of therapists and an amazing functional neurologist in Maine.
Had it not been for the knowledge, compassion and humor I enjoy while listening to your podcast, I don’t think I would be where I am today in recovery. I have learned to become the master of my own healing. I am so grateful for your uplifting podcast.
Thank you so much!
