LA MPG - OutSmarted Part II - Smart ForTwo Street Interviews
As my day driving the Smart ForTwo through L.A. comes to an end, I interview random people on Melrose Blvd. to see if they would ever drive a Smart Car and what they think of people who do. French lesbians, Armenian teenagers, some cool guy and even a nerdy Swiss guy. Plus an actual soccer dad!

Some Smart Car misconceptions...
My Smart car gets closer to 45 miles per gallons, and that's after you put 600 miles on the engine to break it in; it has been a long time since I last received 33 mpg. Second, I would not write off the Smart car as something "people don't want." Mercedes has sold every Smart manufactured and imported into North America, which would explain why people normally wait up to a year and a half until they can take delivery of a new Smart. I would definitely say that the microcar segment is catching on in the US with competition following suit; Gordon Murray (the man that designed the McLaren F1 supercar) is designing a new Smart competitor called the T25. Toyota is also brining their new iQ microcar to the US as a Scion model in 2010.
