A show about writing, reading, and getting (some) things done. Jessica Lahey writes the Parent-Teacher Conference column for the New York Times' Well Family and is the author of "The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Children Can Succeed." KJ Dell'Antonia is a columnist and contributing editor for the New York Times' Well Family. In their podcast, they talk about writing short form, long form and book length, give tips for pitching editors and agents and constantly revise how they tackle the ongoing challenge of keeping your butt in the chair for long enough to get the work done.

Smaller goals get more done

Both inspiration and reminder. Writing a book in increments vs tackling it as the monster project it seems to be. And how setting smaller writing goals -- with *real* deterrents, and boy do they offer a good one! -- can keep you working instead of scrolling your Facebook feed.

Loving it so far...

I am regular reader of the Well Family formerly Motherlode so I am familiar with KJ's work/style. It was though Motherlode that I discovered Jessica's writing and her amazing lego collection. Then I read The Gift of Failure and loved it. It was very well researched, to the point and relevant. Oh, wait-the podcast.
Now, I'm glad they are podcasting. Jess and KJ are both very bright, have a good sense of humor (at least my kind of humor) and good chemistry together-it’s is like getting double shot expresso.
As a podcaster myself I know what goes into producing an episode. And of course-I love audio.
I love where this podcast is going. And I love the format of the show. It's also educational and informative. Best of luck!

It offers inspiration and accountability

#amwriting is one of my new favorite podcasts. It makes me feel both inspired and accountable as a writer. It allows me time to reflect upon everything I accomplished myself in the past day or week, as well as the areas where I need to buckle down and really get to work. I have worked with KJ many times and deeply value her insight into the craft of writing; Jess is also a wonderful writer and a great complement to KJ on the podcast. Looking forward to many more episodes!
