This podcast is such a great perspective giver. Kyle and Daniel have a great back and forth that approaches conflict with grace and appreciation for opposing viewpoints. Shows that you don't need to fight when you disagree :)
A Christian and an Atheist walk into a bar....
Assumptions podcast challenges your assumptions of what a theologically themed conversation between a Christian and an Atheist would be. While my own perspectives do not particularly align me with either camp, nor do I consider such viewpoints necessarily oppositional, this podcast quickly became one of my favorites, in part because I’ve followed both co-hosts in their other online endeavors for some time and find them to be deeply considered, insightful, and amiable individuals.
But I especially appreciate this podcast because it centers on a topic that has been my lifelong passion, and the co-hosts approach the subject matter with a practical and comprehensive sensibility that is often sorely lacking in other mediums of theological or philosophical discourse - namely the exploration of one’s world view through the duality of informing the manner through which life is lived, as well as being informed by it. This podcast addresses the interpretation of cultural touchstones through the bias of differing world views, but embraces the fluidity of how these perspectives evolve and develop. Anything less is often just meaningless rhetoric or bait for conflict. But Kyle and Daniel (the co-hosts) place as much emphasis on listening to one another as they do sharing their own stories. Civic and religious leaders could take a lesson from these guys.
Assumptions is a hidden gem
Kyle Marshal is a hidden gem in the world of podcasting, I’ve been a fan of his last show, Whatever This Is, for a while. Kyle has been honing his craft for a very long time, and I can tell that his experience has carried over into this new podcast. Oh, and Daniel is pretty cool too I guess… Definitely worth a listen.
