Interpreter: A Journal of Mormon Scripture is a nonprofit educational journal focused on the scriptures of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, the Bible, Doctrine and Covenants, early LDS history, and related subjects. All publications are peer-reviewed and are made available as free internet downloads or through at-cost print-on-demand services. Our goal is to increase understanding of scripture through careful scholarly investigation and analysis of the insights provided by a wide range of ancillary disciplines, including language, history, archaeology, literature, culture, ethnohistory, art, geography, law, politics, philosophy, etc. Interpreter will also publish articles advocating the authenticity and historicity of LDS scripture and the Restoration, along with scholarly responses to critics of the LDS faith. We hope to illuminate, by study and faith, the eternal spiritual message of the scriptures—that Jesus is the Christ. Although the editors of the journal fully support the goals and teachings of the Church, the journal is an independent entity with no affiliation with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, nor with Brigham Young University. The Board of Editors alone is responsible for its contents.

If this first podcast is indicative of the kind of product Interpreter will be providing, we are blessed, indeed.

Good Open-Minded Defense of Mormonism

This is a great podcast for those interested in exploring various areas to expand their faith and scholarly understanding while staying squarely in the center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Not one to explore objectively challenging issues, but will certainly respond in a mode of defense regarding some of the challenging issues when brought up by someone else. The scripture roundtable discussions, while sometimes carrying some technical challenges, typically feature engaging and lively discussion covering a wide variety of areas from both scholarly and devotional perspectives. I have been very pleased with podcasts on the creation, Jonah, Proverbs, and Joshua, for instance. Many ideas brought up are thought-provoking and faith-promoting. A good supplement to an orthodox (or orthodox-friendly) Mormon's spiritual and intellectual journey.

Great Source of Scholarship!

Interpreter is a fantastic source of information for those who want to be kept up to date on the work being done in Mormon Academics.
