Customer Reviews

Radio at it's best.

This series presents a wide variety of interesting topics that are sometimes funny, sometimes profound, but always entertaining. Just like 45 records, many times the B-side was much better than the A-side. These segment producers show the wonderful potential of radio that, unfortunately, is rarely available these days. Give it a listen.

This American Life Lite

A friend recommended this to me--but I don't know why. This podcast demonstrates that even though you might listen to a story on This American Life and think that you too could produce one, odds are you can't. And neither can Tamara Keith. These stories do not transcend their quotidian nature to feel universal. They also feel rushed and the balance between details which make the story quirky but strong themes to make the story compelling is entirely missing.

Did you guys end up getting a drink with Concept?

I just listened to the Dawn show, and especially liked the Walmart material. The evocation was superb, not just of the oddly cheery artificial day, but of the wasted hollow sleeplessness of the reporters. And your interview Concept was great - what a charmer. In general, I always look forward to the glue on these shows. The telephone game from Gossip revealed so much about the personalities of the successive tellers. Especially notable was the man with the slow gentle voice who radically, if kindly, denuded the story of all blame and antagonism.
