For five glorious years, Bilgemunky Radio was a weekly two-hour broadside of pirate music. Be it rap, metal, alternative, or crusty old sea shanties, if it buckles your swash, it gets played! Bilgemunky Radio should be considered PG-13, as songs (and the host) include any number of references to rum, pillaging, or plundering.

enjoyable intro to modern pirate-inspired music

I happened across Bilgemunkey's website and started listening to his podcasts a couple of weeks ago and now look forward to them every Monday. Since I work nights I can listen to the podcast (lowly) but cannot share in the IRC community. BM plays a wide variety of tunes given to him by the artists as he pays no royalties for the music--simple self-promotion for the bands, a smart decision. While no podcast can be perfect there are always plenty of enjoyable tunes and BM publishes a playlist on his MySpace page. I have been buying select CDs from some of the artists to support their work. Very much worth the time to listen!

Love Pirate Music

This is just great music that I can sit around and listen to all day. I'm a pirate and I recommend this to any and all who ever wished sailed to the seas or just to those who like to drink rum!
