Customer Reviews

Decent

The guests are great and the insight into the industry is appreciated, but the interviews are just so dry. It's just question-after-question. I prefer podcast interviews to be more conversation-driven and would like to see more of the personalities of these industry figures, instead of just a series of straight-forward questions and answers.

Board Game University is a fanscinating look behind the scenes of the hobby board game industry.

Board Game University is a fantastic podcast and I'm not just biased because the host, Tom, chose the name that I thought would work best for it. Each episode interviews someone behind the scenes of the board gaming hobby. Sometimes they are designers. Sometimes they are publishers or distributors. The format is pretty open so it could turn out to be anyone whose job, or avocation, is to bring new board and card games to market.

What's great about the show is that Tom Vasel's years of building up contacts in the industry while promoting and reviewing hobby board games are on display as he interviews people who obviously consider valuable colleague, friend and peer. So what ends up happening are "fly on the wall" conversations about what it really takes to create board games from various seasoned perspectives.

It's a great show. If you want to learn about the business and process of making board games or are interested in all the facets of hobby board gaming, you should check it out.

One of my favorites
