Broadway Backstory is a documentary style podcast from TodayTix and Theater People that explores how a show develops from an idea to a full Broadway production. We get the behind the scenes story directly from the people who lived it - the conceivers, actors, directors, and producers. Season two will feature stories from Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton, Kinky Boots, The Light in the Piazza, Bring It On, Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812, Come From Away, and Bonnie & Clyde. Some shows are gone too soon, others seem like they’ll last forever — either way, it all started with an idea.

My Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
This podcast is INVALUABLE. So well-researched, insanely profound, wonderfully-produced, et al. After listening to Theater People promote this, I knew that I had to give it a shot. (Ham pun? Unintentional.) And when I finally did, I was completely blown away by it. It's now part of my daily routine and I wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you for this podcast!
This is great storytelling about great storytelling
Patrick Hinds and the good folks at TodayTix have teamed up to raise the game on podcasts about theatre. Hinds brings all his expertise as an interviewer to conversations with Broadway's biggest names and behind-the-scenes influencers, and those conversations are beautifully composed to tell the story of the creation of some of Broadway's greatest shows. Fans of NPR storytelling shows like This American Life or Serial will appreciate this smartly crafted podcast that's full of heart and captures the excitement and uncertainty of a career in theater.
Um OK I feel like someone out there is listening to us rabid theater nerds. There's so few theater podcasts out there and many of the existing ones only seem to focus on the broad careers of different players in that world, they cover so much ground that sometimes the really cool interesting backstories behind certain shows just get glossed over. I cannot wait for more of this show, if it's anything like Patrick's other theater podcast I'm going to love it and my new hope is that every episode is about 6hrs long. THANK YOU TodayTix for making this happen!
