Special Edition Episode: Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Bruce Lee’s Legacy

I sat down with our Warrior podcast friends to discuss the 50th anniversary of my father’s legacy with our cast and crew joining in on the fun. July 20 marks the date not just of my father’s passing but of the beginning of his enduring legacy. And so for us this is a time of reflection and celebration. I am always astonished and humbled by and grateful for the impact that my father has had on culture and on the human spirit. My continued reverence for this impact is why I am inspired to carry on my own study of it and to share his legacy far and wide. He was able to accomplish so much by following his heart, his inner knowing and by being the best version of himself he could cultivate and express! And here we are still talking about him 50 years later. So please enjoy this special celebratory episode and here’s to 50 more years of goodness! xShannon

New listener

Just wanted you to know that I have been a fan of Bruce Lee movies for the most basic elements of entertainment.

As I have aged I have found the philosophy is amazing and infused into the movies.

As I have dabbled in martial a martial art, I found it ok to learn the basics but was missing something. I find as I’m older I appreciate the philosophy behind what should be behind the martial art.

I have been trying use this philosophy in general life as I have recently started listening.

Love the knowledge and new view of life.

So much more than just a movie star!

It would be hard to be the child of a famous person, much less one of the stature of a multiple genre-changing icon like Bruce Lee. But with this podcast, Shannon Lee and her co-host Sharon Ann Lee tackle the true legacy of the Little Dragon, his philosophy. And they do it in a way that isn't necessarily "worshipful" of Shannon's famous father, but rather as a study of how the man lived his life and how he applied his philosophy to his day to day living. And most importantly, they give the listener guidance and ideas on how they might adopt his many credos into their every-day lives.

It's important when you're sharing the teachings of someone so much "larger than life" as Bruce Lee to draw us all back into his real life and not just the hype of Hollywood and Hong Kong cinema. As the daughter of Bruce, Shannon is able to show the real man and the real struggles he went through, the steps he took to overcome and learn from his struggles, and the many ways in which he kept his head while all around him were trying to either deify him or tear him down. Her access to resources as his daughter and the head of the Bruce Lee Family Company give her an insight into his life that no one other than her mother Linda has. She openly shares these with all of us each episode as the topic of learning from the triumphs, failures, and everyday life of her father and those around him is discussed and dissected. Both Shannon and Sharon Lee are very insightful and open about his life, their lives, and how the philosophy that Bruce Lee developed for himself and his art have helped and affected them.

I take something away from every episode, and have learned much about myself from Shannon's sharing of her father's life and her own experiences. I look forward to each episode and have even gone back to listen to older episodes again to garner new perspectives as I move through my own life.

This is truly one of the best podcasts on the internet. Thank you!
