Fang-tastic! (See what I did there?)

I've been a fan of Jenny Owen Youngs for a long time (and Buffy the Vampire Slayer even longer!) so I was really excited when she announced this new podcast. I'm pleased to say that the first episode did not disappoint! Jenny and Kristin play off each other really well, and I laughed a lot while listening. I always love hearing fans discuss the things they are passionate about. Jenny's closing song will probably be stuck in my head until I hear the next one. I'm actually considering watching through Buffy again, one episode a week, to have it fresh in my mind for each new episode of this podcast!

I tried.

I really wanted to like this podcast because I am a direhard Buffy fan. However I find the hosts disorganized and flaky. I thought I was getting into a "one hardcore fan, one out of the loop new watcher" kind of scenario, but Kristen's pushiness on how she seems to know all about the Buffyverse based on the fact that she read Anne Rice and had custom vampire fangs in HS is seriously annoying. I could only get thru about four episodes. I think with the nature of the quality of BtVS and it's following this podcast is totally subpar.

Increasingly Self-Indulgent

I have listened to this podcast faithfully from the beginning. It started out kind of sloppy and haphazard, which I chalked up to Kristen and Jenny both being new to podcast hosting. I've been waiting for them to refine their skills and improve show focus, but now in the 3rd season I have to admit it has only gotten worse. Podcast length often approaches 2 hours, even when discussing throw-away episodes that most Buffy fans don't remember. I can no longer manage both listening to the podcast and watching the Buffy episode being discussed in a single day's free time. Podcasts with guest hosts are particularly bad, spending an excruciating amount of time laughing at inside jokes and telling each other how great they are. Sadly have removed this one from my queue.
