This is the candotri podcast. If this swimmer-turned-triathlete can do tri, you too candotri. Join me as I swim, run, ride, and explore the ways that technology can help us really enjoy the triathlon lifestyle. I also have race reports, gear reviews, and interviews with the people who inspire me to go harder and better. The candotri podcast is based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada where there are open skies, few mountains, very little ocean swimming, and temperatures that vary from -40C in the winter to almost +40C in the summer. 110707

Highly recommended

CanDoTri Podcast is Chad Matsalla's podcast about learning to become a triathlete. His background is in swimming, with some biking. He's been running for a little less than a year, which means we get to tag along to his first timed running race. He hails from Canada. This is a new podcast, with five episodes currently available. Most episodes are around 45 minutes long. Episodes begin with a running quote, followed by some upbeat music.

Chad has a very clear voice, a little clipped, and it almost seems robotic at times, especially when he is inserting specific temperatures and humidity reports. If you find it difficult to understand running podcasts that are recorded while running, this is a very clear podcast and I suggest you give it a try. I have to admit, the more I listen, the more impatient I am for a new episode to come out. I think this podcast is easy to listen to, not just because of his clear voice, but also because it is factual with some personality quirks and jokes included. As much as I appreciate other podcasts that are all over the place (ya'll know who you are), sometimes it is nice to listen to someone who is clearly logical. I also like when Chad talks about himself in third person with very little inflection on his race report. Example: "Our hero seems to be fading. How is this going to end." No question mark, because he didn't really say it like a question. Even more than this, I like when he pumps himself up: "quick feet! Quick feet!" Also fun is the noise inserts of cheering crowds and other sound effects . And the interviews conducted so far are interesting and concise.

I highly recommend this podcast.

Motivational and entertaining

As someone who is new to triathlon training, I'm finding that Chad helps keep me motivated to stick to my schedule. He is knowledgable in all three tri sports, and I've already tried some of his product recommendations. Even more important, the delight he takes in his training and accomplishments is a great reminder that this is supposed to be fun.

my Canadian friend

I love the detail Chad goes into and with his deep exploration of the topics he covers. He has a great sence of humor (to me anyway) and has genuine compassion for people. I say give it a shot you only have a freind to gain.
