Cast On began on Monday, 31 October, 2005, founded on nothing more than the desire to talk about knitting to people who get it. All the other stuff, about how memories, thoughts, hopes and dreams are knit into the fabric we create, and so become part of the fabric of our lives; about how life and knitting intertwine, and how sometimes you simply cannot tell where one part leaves off the other begins; about how the only thing wrong with the world today is that there is not enough knitting in it, all that came later, over time. Since 2005 the podcast has evolved to focus on finding inspiration in the ordinary, using it to kick start the process of making stuff, and finding ways to carve out the creative time and space that allows you to work your ass off on the projects that matter most to you. Like knitting a sweater. Or saving the world.

Cast-On Is A Wonderful Knitting Podcast

Brenda Dayne is an entertaining knitter with a great sense of humor with a wonderful taste in podsafe music to knit by. I especially enjoy her segment on the sweater of the week.

Silky voice, enjoyable music, great topic!

Brenda's podcast sounds like a professional broadcast. I look forward to downloading each new episode and sitting with my knitting and getting away from the rest of the world for about an hour. The music she chooses comes from new (to me) artists. Her stories of life in Wales evoke pictures of the world from inside and outside her home.

This podcast has the distinction of being the first that I could a) listen to all the way through without wanting to shut it off, and b) seek out previous episodes. While there are a lot of stale, stiff, uninspiring casts out there, this one isn't one of them. Brenda has a professional, funny, informative podcast in Cast-On. I declare this the perfect podcast to knit to when you don't have the company of friends. Thanks Brenda!
