Description

Following up on his book Sonic Mosaics: Conversations with Composers (UA Press, 2009), composer Paul STEENHUISEN began producing the SOUNDLAB New Music Podcast to further explore the work of international contemporary music artists. Each episode includes a comprehensive interview, and musical examples related to the discussion. Hear composers and performers in their own words, discussing their creative work, ideas and influences, musical background, collaborations, and whatever else is on their mind. SOUNDLAB interviews are intended to be listened to and shared freely by inquisitive listeners.

Something a little different

If you want a little more depth, authority, seriousness and some recherché composers (and topics) covered intelligently and sensitively by someone who really knows his modern music, Paul Steenhuisen’s Soundlab is a very good place to start. There aren’t many such podcast series, unfortunately; long may this one continue!

Smart interviews

Just discovered this podcast and I am impressed. The interviews are insightful, researched and not superficial like most online new music content. Plus the "audio footnotes" are great. The Wuorinen interview, the Carter interview - really well done.
