Description

Friends and pop culture nerds devour movie marathons from start to finish in one day in an attempt to make sense of the masochism.

Love it

It's exactly what you think it is. The guys gather in what must be an extremely comfy room because some of their choices seem like torture. Maybe not...maybe they strap each other into wooden chairs and bind their limbs with leather straps in order to tolerate the visual beating.

They tend to give quickie reviews to each film highlighting their merits and weaknesses. Don't expect any in-depth review or critical judgements. Their reviews are more of a litmus test for party movies. If they can all agree that a film is good, then chances are that you and a group of friend may, too.

Their choices definitely fit their ages. I'm not criticizing them for it. How long can they go? The longest has been the James Bond franchise. Could any of you make that commitment?

Franchises are not the only fodder for their marathons. They also tackle themed shows. I have a feeling that themed shows will rise in popularity because each film will stand out without the expectations of a franchise.

I hope they keep going until they reach 200 episodes. The trick will be whether they will choose films they genuinely want to watch versus films for the sake of viewing a franchise just to fill content.

If you have patience - you will be rewarded.

I want to say I absolutely love this podcast - but I'm going to stop short of that. The guys are very intelligent and entertaining, and the podcasts are full of great information and absolutely riveting. However, there was a long break in between podcast at certain points - and while I know it must take a lot of time to watch all the films and then talk about them, it is frustrating having to wait as long as we do. And they break longer podcasts into separate episodes - which makes sense - but then you wait a week or more for each little section. It's rather annoying.

Of course, this really is just nitpicking, and other than those small complaints, this really is a first-rate podcast. If you have patience, you will be surely rewarded.
