the greatest

the greatest w/blerd podcast in the buisness after i take man-man back in after a longnight of hanging out on the street corners i listen to this podcast for all my comicbook movie updates and social views join the junto!

Not meant to tear down.

Let me preface this by saying I genuinely very much like Adam and Octavius. They're good guys. But I write this negative (updated) review in hopes that they would take it constructively, and I'll do my best to present it in that manner.

When I think of comic books I think of an escape from the real world, and also think of podcasts similarly. This show has gone through points that were so highly political that it was hard to listen to. I know this is a personal preference thing, some people probably enjoy that, but my feeling was "I get enough politics every day, I don't want to hear it when I'm trying to listen to dudes talk comics too." Like I said, I'm sure some people enjoy it, I wish it was left out, and I even agree with their points at least 90% of the time, I just find it draining to hear them talk for 20 minutes of a 60 minute show on politics.

Second, I also don't like the fact they always talk about how the "Junto" is a community, yet you hear the same listeners getting they're emails read when you know you've sent at least one. (I know comparison is typically not cool, but b3ar with me) most other podcasts I listen to that are of similar size make it a point to read every email. Now I get there's time constraints and all that, but it's just odd to me how the community thing is (or maybe WAS, it's been a while so perhaps I'm misremembering) played up so much. In the same light, in order to join they're Facebook group, you have to be a $5 patreon supporter for 3 months? To me that doesn't scream "we're about community."

So listen, this review is not meant to tear down. In fact to prove that I'm going to go support your patreon right now, I like you guys a lot, these two things just typically really detract from the show for me at times. I hope I didn't come across too harshly, because that of course is not the intent.

Best Comic Podcast

Adam and Octavius have a great rapport which makes listening to them banter about life, popular culture and of course comics a highlight of my week. The more you listen, the more you realize that you have two good friends in Philly.

They've been on a hiatus for the summer. I'm hoping that my 5 stars and positive comment will bring them back to the Junto. I actually had to reinstall the podcast app just to leave this comment. Come back friends! There is so much to talk about. We miss you!
