Thank a Teacher!
Teachers are often such unsung heroes, we went straight to the recipients of their work to let them thank teachers for their work. We spoke to Kindergarten through 12th graders, who quite brilliantly articulate their appreciation for the time and dedication teachers put into this really tough work that we do. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

About Introverts part 2
In part 1 of our About Introverts episode, we focused on what it means to be an introvert and some of the cultural biases associated with it. Now, in part 2, Shane and Jen are rejoined by CSD’s Juli Gardner and Susan Ban to talk about different ways of meeting the needs of introverted students within the classroom. Additionally, the resources discussed in the podcast can be found at these links:
Here is a cool article from Susan Cain for parents of teens.

A very good read for better understanding from an extroverted teacher's point of view:

A great look at how introverts interact with the world:

I HIGHLY recommend Susan Cain's Ted Talk for ALL of us. This really digs into the cultural bias surrounding extroverts. Lots to ponder!

My Funny Valentine
Sure, you can go buy store bought Valentines for your child and be done with it, but at Community School of Davidson, educators have developed a more meaningful tradition that has students writing poems for each of their classmates beginning in Kindergarten. Learn more about this tradition and how it got started as Shane and Jen talk to CSD administrator and founding teacher, Leslie Tomko.
