D&D + Fun = Death D4 Dishonor

A new D&D podcast that focuses on having fun! Tinzien runs the show here as the gang tackles whatever he feels like throwing in their way, even if it means trampling a wizard or two along the way. Give it a listen if you like to hear a group of friends having fun while gaming.

P.S. I might be a bit biased as I'm a player ;)

I've been checking out a few of the live play podcasts looking for inspiration for my games and entertainment on my long work commutes. I found this one and loved the name, but the podcast itself was very, very bad. I had planned on giving it a couple episodes to see if it gets better but after listening to the whole first episode I'm done. The players seem good, the pc's interesting. My problem was with the DM. I was actually screaming at the podcast when he made mistakes on how to run the game. You don't try to roll under your perception score. That aside, after an hour and 40 minutes into the game I think the players might have said 20-30 words. D&D is a cooperative story telling role playing game, not DM story time. Hope it gets better. I may jump ahead a few episodes and check. If it does i'll write an edited review but right now I would have to tell others to stay away. Nothing to see here folks.

Interesting approach, bad delivery

I'm a hardcore fan of D&D 4E. So, when I heard how the DM was running the Skill Checks, Attack Rolls, and Actions during the very first combat encounter, I was nothing short of upset. It really felt like an attempt to play a 3rd Edition or 3.5 game with 4E skinning. I really and honestly hope that changes in the later episodes, but at the moment I'm not very inclined to go back to it.

Another issue is the audio quality, which fades in and out, breaks and skips at random intervals, and echoes badly. It's distracting and, again, I hope there is improvement in later episodes.

If you're not picky about how the game is run, and can endure a touch-and-go listening experience, go ahead and listen. Otherwise, there are other, better live play podcasts out there.
