Description

Debra Newell is a successful interior designer. She meets John Meehan, a handsome man who seems to check all the boxes: attentive, available, just back from a year in Iraq with Doctors Without Borders. But her family doesn’t like John, and they get entangled in an increasingly complex web of love, deception, forgiveness, denial, and ultimately, survival. Reported and hosted by Christopher Goffard from the L.A. Times.

Heard it before, Daughters are insufferable

Listening to the first episode and as soon as the I hear the daughters speak, I cringe from all the up-speak and vocal fry. This is a story a bout a rich oblivious old woman who has low self-esteem and thus poor standards for a partner. The story writes itself.

Better Podcasts Out There

This story is only barely suspenseful — and once you start hearing this family’s side of it, you’ll be even less interested. They all make grating and unintelligent narrators, and it makes the podcast insufferable. Listen to something else.

20 minutes in, and I can't stand these people. And now two commercials back to back before I'm even half-way through the episode... I'll go back to quality podcasts now.
