Dr. History's audio stories of the Old West. Stories of Cowboys, Indians, Mountain men, pioneers, the Oregon Trail, miners, cattle drives, stagecoach and bank robbers, the cavalry, outlaws and lawmen, some famous and some you have never heard of. From the Custer Battlefield to the Klondike to Indian battles to buried treasure and lost mines to the early explorers. I love telling true stories that shaped the old west.

Interesting stories

Love the stories but Zed/Zeb or whatever his name is needs to stop interrupting. It disrupts the flow of the story and makes me want to tune out. Would give 5 stars if he'd stop interrupting and stop trying to be funny. Hope this changes. If not I hope Dr. History does his own podcast without calling into the show.

Interesting but a little too "great man" in approach

The stories are well researched but without a background knowledge of the context in which these stories take place its hard to appreciate the events of these stories. What was typical of life in the old west in regards to employment, distribution of wealth, the impact of different harsh environments on life, or what was life expectancy? The great man approach is fine but I feel like you need context because otherwise its just about worshipping the great achievements of some man (also where are the women in the old west? What were they up to?).

As an aside, and I'm addressing the hosts directly now, weather is what happens on a day to day basis. Climate is the combination of trends in weather. Climate Change is about huge trends of weather patterns changing towards more extreme climate including cold. Just because its cold in Siberia doesn't disprove Climate Change. Take a minute and do some research on that topic because you're clearly really good at researching the Old West, and I mean that sincerely.

Sitting at grandpa’s feet

I really enjoy this podcast because I love hearing stories from the old west! It reminds me of when I was a kid sitting at my grandpa’s feet listening to his stories. I don’t believe all the stories told because in the old west they liked to exaggerate their stories to make them more incredible, but I think it’s safe to say that the premise of the story is based on fact.
